"Ice Shield"

Climate Change is a heavily debated topic. "Ice Shield" is a parody on humans false sense of safety-you are never safe from mother nature. The buildings are encased and molded into the iceberg, the city is "shielded" until the next natural disaster. Under the water you see the hidden rough sharp edges of the iceberg that showcase mother natures unpredictability.

Grid Art

I first started by drawing a burning rose motif, and then I forgot to take pictures as I was putting cut up pieces of black construction paper into rectangles. The canvas I got was 18" x 20" but the rectangles I cut were 30 x 30.  This was my inspiration for creating the burning rose. It's from a show called RWBY (pronounced Ruby). I then started to add the decorative stones to make it actually look like a rose on fire.  I alternated between two different shades of red one was a bit darker than the others but you couldn't really tell. I also added some yellow and orange stones to give it the colors you'd see in a flame.  I then started to cut up black pieces of fabric into squares and put them in between the flames.  Finished with the black squares! It didn't quite feel finished to me so I decided to add a few more things. Finished! I ended up adding more stones on the black squares because it just didn't feel like a ro

Flip Book

For my Flip Book, I ended up using the  Jungle Book.  I was a little upset about having to ruin one of my favorite books, so I ended up theming my flip book based on it, and also a poem that is toward the end of the flip book. I also involved the big issue of deforestation that is happening worldwide. I also wanted to bring awareness to what animals are impacted, and what could happen to them. With wars going on not just people but animals have problems finding a safe sanctuary no matter if there is a war, or they are facing deforestation, or even the threat of a "wall", they are being threatened every day.

Performance Art

       It was really nerve racking having to do a performance art because in our society now people judge you based on the way you act. My friends and I went with a spoof on the show Drake and Josh because one it's a super hilarious show. The part of the show that we did was when Crazy Steve was chasing Josh yelling "You ate my enchilada." and Josh's line was "I thought we settled this." It was a lot of fun to do and it was so much better to do with friends. When I was editing the video I noticed one guy was actually recording us and I was cracking up because I had no idea and now I have to tell my friend JP that happened. I circled this guy in red and there was also a group of three who were also confused about what was going on. I couldn't have imagined doing this on my own being able to actually talk as loud as I did hurt my throat a bit but it was still fun to do.
